Yolonda Gail DuPree Obituary
Yolonda Gail DuPree, a devoted mother, sister, aunt, community servant, and faithful child of God, entered eternal rest surrounded by the love of those whose lives she touched. She passed peacefully on June 15, 2026 while at McLeod Regional Medical Center of The Pee Dee located in Florence, South Carolina. Born on August 23, 1959, in Bennettsville, South Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ralph and Beatrice DuPree. At a young age, Yolonda accepted Jesus Christ as her Risen Savior and began a lifelong journey of faith and service. She was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church throughout her life, where she dedicated herself to nurturing the spiritual growth of young people. Her love for children was evident in her leadership of the church's Children's Ministry, including directing the children's choir and coordinating Vacation Bible School for many years. Through her guidance, countless young people were encouraged to grow in faith, confidence, and service. Yolonda attended Marlboro County Schools and later earned her degree from the University of South Carolina. She devoted more than twenty-five years of her professional life to serving others as a social worker. Her compassion, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to helping individuals and families made a lasting impact throughout the community she so dearly loved. Dedicated to public service and sisterhood, Yolonda was an active member of the Bennettsville-Cheraw Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Throughout her years of membership, she faithfully served in numerous leadership capacities, including multiple terms as President and Treasurer. Her commitment to the sorority's principles of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and social action reflected the values by which she lived every day. Above all, Yolonda cherished her family. She was a loving and devoted mother whose greatest joy was her son, Ryan. Her kindness, generosity, strength, and warm spirit will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her precious memory her beloved son, Ryan DuPree of the home; her brother, Ralph (Pearlette) DuPree of Columbia, South Carolina; her sister, Monica (Reginald) Wilkerson of Durham, North Carolina; four nieces, Krysten (Ashley) DuPree of Columbia, South Carolina, Kelsey DuPree of Greenville, South Carolina, Daryn Wilkerson of New York, New York, and Dayna Wilkerson of Durham, North Carolina; three aunts, Imogene Sparks of Woodbridge, Virginia, Gladys Ferguson of Duncanville, Texas, and Claudia Jones of Greenwood, South Carolina: sisters-in-love, Sandra (Randall) Malichi of Bennettsville, South Carolina, JaNovice Greene-Richardson of Dillon, South Carolina, and Karen (James) Robinson-Clark of Laurinburg, North Carolina; one son-in-love, Patrick Malichi of Charlotte, North Carolina, and a host of loving relatives, friends, church family, sorors, colleagues, and community members. Yolonda's life was a beautiful testimony of faith, service, and love. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched and the countless acts of kindness she inspired. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Shiloh Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, honoring Yolonda's lifelong commitment to faith, education, and the development of future generations.
