Rev. Talmadge Stanton, Jr.

Rev. Talmadge Stanton, Jr. was born in Marlboro County, South Carolina on September 14, 1937. He was the son of the late Katie Townsend Stanton and Talmadge Stanton, Sr. He was educated in the public schools of Marlboro County and graduated from the Lincoln High School in Clio, SC. He graduated from Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC and later received his Master's Degree from Gammon Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a devoted minister and served 34 years in the United Methodist Church. Early in life he accepted Christ as his savior and became an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Clio. In 1963, he transferred his membership to Old Clio United Methodist Church where he took an active role in the men's ministry of the church. His marriage was to the former Mary Hayes. He responded to the Master's call from labor to reward on October 14, 2023 while in the comfort of his home with his loving wife by his side. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, but not limited to: his wife, Mary H. Stanton of the home; his son, Talmadge Stanton, III; his daughter, Helen Stanton, Charlotte, NC; his sister, Minnie Hairston, Winston Salem, NC; a host of nieces, nephews;  other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2023- 1:00 p.m. at Old Clio United Methodist Church -located on Hwy No. 9 in Clio, SC 29525. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Everyone in attendance is asked to wear facial masks. Memorial tributes maybe posted at Quick's Funeral Home on Facebook and on Quicksfuneralhome.com.
