Retha Mae Knight Thomas was born in Bennettsville, South Carolina located in Marlboro County. She was born on March 17, 1936 the daughter of the late Maggie Green Knight and Brooks Knight. She was educated in the public schools of Marlboro County. Early in life she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and began her Christian journey at Wesley United Methodist Church. There she was a lifelong, dedicated member of the church and she served on the Usher Board, Choir, Finance Committee, member of the United Methodist Women, Prayer Ministry and served as Lead for the Prayer Line every Monday and Thursday. She loved her church and her church family. Her favorite thing to do was to sing for the Lord. Her signature song was "Everything You Do for The Master Let It Be Real" Retha Mae loved her children and she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She always made sure everyone got something to eat. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie J. Thomas, Sr. and her two daughters, Doris Thomas and Theresa Thomas. On December 5, 2023 in Rockingham, North Carolina at First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Retha Mae Thomas answered the Master's call for her to receive her reward for an earthly life well lived. She leaves to cherish her memories, but not limited to: her loving children, her daughter, Doretha Thomas Davenport; three sons, Willie "Willie T" J. Thomas, Jr. (Brenda), Larry "Micky" Thomas (Ada) and Bobby Thomas (Judy); one sister, Maggie Knight Nance. one brother, John "Tony" Knight (Shirley); special granddaughter, Mecca Thomas; a special grandson, Ikey Brooks Thomas; one special niece, LaVonne Nipper (Sam); grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends who will miss her.
