Mary Gladys Pouncy

Mrs. Mary Gladys Pouncy was born in Marlboro County, South Carolina on April 1,1934. She was the daughter of the late Lillian Adams McLucas and Elijah Galloway. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life. She was a lifelong member of Cedar Fall Missionary Baptist Church in Blenheim, South Carolina. There she served on the Senior Choir and performed the church announcements. She was employed for 40 years as a Dietitian at the Marlboro Park Hospital in Bennettsville, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by four sons, Leroy, Lonnie III, Nathaniel and Kennedy. Mary would often say: "Keep on getting up in the morning." On October 15, 2023 while at the McLeod Regional Medical Center of The Pee Dee located in Florence, South Carolina, Mary Gladys Pouncy transitioned from labor to reward. She leaves to cherish her memories, but not limited to: her daughters, Carolyn Norman (John) and Harriet Jackson both of Bennettsville, SC; her son, John Brown (Julia Mae), Bennettsville, SC; her siblings: Samuel Adams, Brooklyn, NY; Brenda Hartwell and Jeannie McCree both of Atlanta, GA; a host of other close relatives and friends.
