Joseph Simmons was born in Bennettsville, South Carolina on October 26, 1952. He was the son of James Watson, Jr. and was raised by his stepmother, Dorothy Williams Watson. He was educated in the public schools of Marlboro County, SC. Joseph was employed several years for the City of Bennettsville. He was later employed doing heating and cooling repair service wherever he was needed. Early in life he accepted Christ as his savior. His marriage was to Deshawn Davis Simmons. On December 21, 2022 while in the comfort of his home in Little Rock, SC surrounded by his loving family, Joseph Simmons departed this life and leaves to cherish his memories, but not limited to: his wife, Deshawn Simmons; his daughters, Johynicka Simmons and Joahna Simmons-Rogers (Jamel); two stepsons, Christopher Manning and Reginald Rivers, Jr.; his eight grandchildren, Auriyon McDowell, Auriyanna McDowell, Aria Rogers, Jamel Rogers, Jr., Rodrick Drawhorn, Jr., Tyzir David, Ahmir Lilly and Zyrion McMillan; along with other close relatives and friends.
