Mr. John "Baldie" Elliott, Sr. was born in Marlboro County, South Carolina on December 29, 1950. He was the son of the late Ruth Elliott and James Crosland. His adoptive parents were Creo Canty and Arthur Canty. He was educated in the public schools of Marlboro County. He accepted Christ as his Savior early in life and was a faithful member of New St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Clio, South Carolina until his health failed. There he served on the Usher Board. He was a member of Mystic Union Lodge No. 31. "Baldie" was the owner and operator of Elliott Trucking in excess of 10 years. After he became disabled he retired from trucking. On January 24, 2024 while at Honorage Nursing Center in Florence, South Carolina, John Elliott, Sr. departed this earthly life to receive his eternal reward. He leaves to cherish his memories, but not limited to: his loving wife, Earlene Moultrie Elliott; his daughter, Karen Little(Craig); his son, John Elliott, Jr. (Tammy); 7 grandchildren: Jonathan Ingram, Justin Little, Denzel Ellison, Da'jon Elliott, Jon'ta Elliott, Te'jon Jordan and Ta'Mya Elliott; 5 great grandchildren; his sister, Linda Crosland; 6 sisters-in-law, Brenda Jackson, Diane Moultrie, Pearl Moultrie, Doris Moultrie (David), Michelle Moultrie (Jerry) and Doretha Page (Bruce); special niece, Elois Chisholm; 4 special caregivers, Jacqueline Jones, Tammy Ellerbe, Carolyn Davis and Margie Miles; a host of nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
