Emma Jane (Canty) Miles

Mrs. Emma Jane Canty Miles was born in Marlboro County, SC on February 9, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Cleo James Canty and Arthur Canty. She was educated in the public schools of Marlboro County. Emma was once employed at Emerson Electric later known as Marley Electric. She was a member New St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church where she sang on the Gospel Choir. Her marriage was the late Roosevelt Miles, Sr. On September 10, 2021 while at the McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC. Emma Miles transitioned from labor to reward. She leaves to cherish her memories, but not limited to: her daughters, Margie Miles and Cynthia Campbell both of Bennettsville, SC and Darlene Miles, Mapleton, GA; her sons, Roosevelt Miles, Jr., Darren Miles and James Miles all of Bennettsville, SC; three sisters, Mazzie McKiver, Bennettsville, SC; Rev. Isabella Henderson, Covington, GA and Creo Bell Canty, Brooklyn, NY; her brother, John L. Elliott (Earlene), Bennettsville, SC; along with other close relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021-1:00 p.m. at New St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church at 1332 Coxe Road West - Bennettsville, SC 29512. Burial will take place at Berea Memorial Gardens in Bennettsville. Everyone in attendance is asked to wear face masks and exercise social distancing.
