Eddie Johnson, affectionately called "Junior", was born the son of the late Frank and Charity McRae and stepson of Jim Johnson. His birth took place on February 28, 1922 in Marlboro County, South Carolina. He slept away peacefully on October 6, 2023 at The Rehabilitation Center of Cheraw in Cheraw, South Carolina. He was 101 years old. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Bennettsville, South Carolina. He was a member of the Trustee Board. He was a faithful member and served faithfully until his health declined. On December 5, 1943, he married Carrie B. Johnson. To this union, they were blessed with three children. He worked on the farm for many years and later became a truck driver for Boro Wood for over thirty years. His wife preceded him in death along with his siblings: Frank McRae, Beulah Covington, Veronia David, Mary Peterkin, Millie Deberry, Willie McRae, Issac McRae and Isabella Patterson. His memories will always be cherished by his two daughters, Helen Brown (Rev. James) and Carol Quick (Fred), Raleigh, NC; one son, Lawrence Johnson (Gabriel), Bennettsville, SC; three grandchildren, Maurice Brown and Torres Brown both of Charlotte, NC; Angela Medlin, Portland, OR; one sister, Mable H. Graham, Bennettsville, SC; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023- 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church - 1575 Salem Road - Bennettsville, SC 29512 with interment in the church cemetery.
