Obituary

Mrs. Alberta Quick Washington was born in Marlboro County, South Carolina on January 2, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Gertrude Pouncy Quick and Howard Quick, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, three brothers and three sisters. She accepted Christ early in life as her Savior. She was a dedicated member and Mother of The Church at Fletcher Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess/Missionary Board Vice President and her husband Robert Washington serves as a Deacon. Alberta was educated in the public schools of Marlboro County. She also extended her education and received the necessary certification to be a licensed Daycare Provider. Her marriage was to Robert Washington and this union took place on June 14, 1957. The majority of her life was spent living in Brooklyn, New York. She was also a Healthcare Provider for those who needed assistance. She retired in 1996 and relocated to Bennettsville, South Carolina. Alberta was a fun loving person and to be in her presence was truly a joy. She always wore a smile and enjoyed laughter and joking. "Bookie" loved her family dearly. She would often times say, "Keep it real! Come on now!" On September 12, 2023 while in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family, Alberta Quick Washington responded to the Master's call from labor to reward. She leaves to cherish her fond memories, but not limited to: her loving husband, Robert Washington of the home; her children, Shelia E. Washington and James Felton Washington both of Bennettsville, SC; Keith Pegues, Winston Salem, NC and Barbara F. David, Charlotte, NC; grandchildren she raised in the home: Tony Worley (Sharon), Bennettsville, SC; LaToya Worley Bright (Roderick), Cheraw, SC and Christopher Worley, Charlotte, NC; two great grandchildren raised in the home: Zahkari Parnell and Nehemiah Rivers both of the home; three more great grandchildren, Christopher Worley, Jr., Detroit, MI; Christian Worley, Lexington, SC and Alaya Worley, Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Alice McLeod and Maxine Quick both of Bennettsville, SC; two brothers, Howard Quick, Jr. (Mary) and Clifton Quick (Cynthia) of Bennettsville, SC; three sisters-in-law, Bridgette Washington, Kissimmee, FL, Beazetta Liles (William), McColl, SC and Vernell Leach, McColl, SC; three brothers-in-law, Elbert Washington, Charlotte, NC and Felton Lee Washington (Loreen), McColl, SC and Randolph Washington, McColl SC; special nephews, Dexter Quick, Columbia, SC and Leartis Quick, Bennettsville, SC; special nieces, Ashley Reid, Bennettsville, SC; Annette Adams, Laurinburg, NC and Tracey Quick, Columbia, SC; also dear to her heart,  Reggie Rivers; a host of other grands, nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, September 17, 2023- 1:00 p.m. at Fletcher Grove Missionary Baptist Church - 8701 Academy Road- Laurinburg, North Carolina 28352 with burial at St. Paul AME Zion Church Cemetery - 1227 Adamsville Rd N. -McColl, SC 29570. Everyone in attendance is asked to wear face masks and exercise social distancing.
